Mayor Ardell F. Brede's Proclamation
WHEREAS, the month of October has been recognized as National Arts and Humanities Month by thousands of arts and cultural organizations, communities, and states across the country, as well as by the White House and Congress for more than two decades; and
WHEREAS, the arts and humanities embody much of the accumulated wisdom, intellect, and imagination of humankind; and
WHEREAS, the arts and humanities enhance and enrich the lives of every American; and
WHEREAS, the nonprofit arts industry also strengthens our economy by generating $134 billion in economic activity annually and by supporting the full-time equivalent of 4.85 million jobs;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: I, Ardell F. Brede, Mayor of the City of Rochester, do hereby proclaim the month of October as
ARTStoberFEST
and call upon our citizens to celebrate and promote the arts and culture in our nation and to specifically encourage the greater participation by those said citizens in taking action for the arts and humanities in our city.
IN WITNESS THEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the corporate seal of the City of Rochester to be affixed this 1st day of October in the year of Our Lord two thousand 2010.

ARTStoberFEST 2010
Rochester's rich and diverse arts and humanities fill up the calendar all year long. Special attention, however, is being given to events taking place in October- National Arts and Humanities Month and Mayor Brede's proclaimed ARTStoberFEST. This is the perfect time to explore the visual arts, music, theatre, history, literature, arts education and dance offerings in our community.
