Details: Choral Arts Ensemble will welcome the wondrous season with a Christmas at Assisi full of jubilant music, including portions of JS Bach’s joyous Christmas Oratorio. The concert will also feature the Honors Concert Choir, an audience sing-along, a newly commissioned Lloyd Ketterling Carol written by Dale Warland, and Silent Night by candlelight. At turns merry and thoughtful, invigorating and comforting, Christmas at Assisi is a luminous holiday experience you will not want to miss.

Details: Choral Arts Ensemble and a professional orchestra will partner with three regional high school concert choirs to provide a high-quality “shoulder-to-shoulder” performance of choral/orchestral masterworks in the gorgeous setting of Lourdes Chapel. Choirs will have the opportunity to sing alone and then the mass choir will perform Mozart’s Ave Verum and Handel’s Hallelujah Chorus.

Details: Rochester Dance Company, comprised of nearly 40 pre-professional dancers from age 6 to 18 will present their yearly holiday tradition of "The Nutcracker" now in its 14th season with 3 performances December 10 and 11. Featuring Professional guest artists Julie Benirschke, Adam Kittelberger and Daniel Klinkhammer. The performances have delighted audiences young and old with the timeless music of Tchaikovsky, a Christmas tree that magically grows, hand painted sets, professionally designed lavish costumes, the mischievous activity of the mice, toy soldiers and superb dancing making this the premier local classical ballet for the Southeast Minnesota region for all ages. Art After Hours: Open Mic Rochester

Details: RAC and C4 are joining forces to create an Open Mic the third Thursday of every month from 7PM-10PM in the Rochester Art Center Grand Lobby.

The venerable Monty Flinsch will continue his reign as master of ceremonies, guaranteeing a great night while Café Steam continues to provide their signature brew.

Open Mic Rochester is an all ages, all abilities open mic in the long tradition of coffee house folk music tradition. Performers of all levels who sing, play instruments (acoustic, electronic and piano), write and perform poetry, spoken word, essayists and all other performing artists who seek an audience are welcome.

PA and baby grand piano will be provided.

Details: Rochester Chamber Music Society is pleased to present Music of Soviet Russia.

Prokofiev and Shostakovich fought battles for the right to compose freely under Stalin and the Soviet era. In spite of all their hardships and fear from the dogma of socialism, these two composers emerged with international reputations and an admiring public. Brace yourselves for the intensity of the politically and emotionally charged music of these two composers in this concert. Also on the program is a piece by Arvo Part. The performers are Daniel Rieppel, piano, Brian Krinke, violin, and Jane Cords-O’Hara, cello.

Details: Greetings! Tickets are now available for the RCTC Christmas Concert. Featuring the RCTC Concert Choir, Concert Band, Aires and Jazz Combo, this concert is an annual tradition for many. It will be held December 7, 8, 9, 10 at 7:30pm in Hill Theatre. This concert has something for everyone, music both sacred and secular, elves, and a visit from Santa! You'll hear the old Christmas favorites along with new, contemporary pieces. At intermission there is an ice cream social in the 3rd floor dining room directly over Hill Theatre where you can enjoy build-your-own ice cream sundaes, cookies, and beverages. This is a great family event enjoyed by all ages, we hope you can join us! Tickets are $10.00 for adults, $8.00 for Sr Citizens 65+, children, non-RCTC students.
