This production has it all for audience members young and old: professionally designed lavish costumes, hand painted sets, the timeless music of Tchaikovsky, the mischievous activity of the mice, toy soldiers, a Christmas tree that magically grows and superb dancing by more than 40 local Rochester Dance Company dancers ages 6-18, and featuring professional guest artists Julie Benirschke and Adam Kittelberger, making this the premier local classical ballet for all ages now in its 13th season.

The performances are slightly more than one and one-half hours in length and include an intermission with access to the Mayo Civic Center concession stands for refreshments. Over 10,000 audience members have delighted in the numerous performances by the Rochester Dance Company over the years.

Details: Rochester Chamber Music Society is pleased to present WindWorks, a Northfield and Twin Cities professional woodwind quintet founded in 1993. They will be making their Rochester debut with music by Dring, Klughardt, Arnold, and Thuille. Members of the group are Kay Sahlin, flute, Dana Maeda, oboe, Jo Ann Polley, clarinet, Josh John, bassoon, and Becky Jyrkas, horn. Josh is a temporary substitute for WindWorks bassoonist Cindy Bailey, who is on medical leave. Joining them to open and close the program is pianist Horacio Nuguid.

Details: Rochester Chamber Music Society will chase away the winter gloom with a concert titled Gassenhauer (popular song). Beethoven’s Trio in Bb, Op. 11 for Piano, Clarinet and Cello is also known by the nickname Gassenhauer Trio because of the very popular theme used in the third movement. This work will be the final number in this concert featuring guest cellist Laura Sewell with clarinetist David Townsend and pianist Horacio Nuguid. Other works in the program will include a mixture of duos by Villa-Lobos, Ravel, Piazzolla and Guastavino and a trio by Nino Rota.

Chad Rutter: Debris Field

Details: Debris Field presents new work by Chad Rutter, a St. Paul-based artist. The final 2015 3rd Floor Emerging Artist Series exhibition, Rutter's work explores an individual and cultural fascination with natural disasters, and the ideology that surrounds them. Debris Field will feature large-scale graphite and soil drawings, as well as a site-specific installation using Minnesota soil, applied directly to the gallery wall with acrylic gel medium.

Chad Rutter has exhibited locally and regionally in venues such as The Soap Factory, Minneapolis, and the Minneapolis Institute of Art. He also founded the artist book publishing imprint, Mystery Spot Books, in 2011.
