Details: Mandalas are evident in a spider web, cross-sections of a tree trunk and the petals of the dandelion. They are an ancient circular symbol for wholeness and harmony. This fun class for youth will provide a plethora of material and guidance to create a mandala on a large vinyl record. Each participant will be encouraged to thoughtfully describe their experience in a creative art piece.

Details: Find new dimensions in your art experience by learning to pain on location. Also called plein air, painting outdoors helps you see things in a new way. This class is suitable for novice and intermediate oil painters. You should already have basic drawing skills and basic experience with oil paints. You will learn: materials, equipment and preparation to paint outdoors, selecting potential subjects and locations, planning and composition of your painting, using a minimal palette, sighting and measurement techniques for outdoors, seeing values outdoors, adding visual depth in your paintings, knife techniques, finishing touches and transporting your wet painting. In the afternoon the class will practice painting on location. The instructor will provide individualized coaching and advice.
Please bring your own supplies.

Details: We didn’t think we would be able to have the Women’s show this year without The Creative Salon!

Thankfully the RCTC Art + Design Department was willing to host us!!

The show will be held at Rochester Community Technical College’s UCR Art Gallery! The past 3 years we have focused on showcasing the work of Rochester area artists. With the exhibit entering its 4th year the organizers decided to open it up to the State of Minnesota! The theme for this year’s exhibit is “Womanhood: what does it mean to you?”

This exhibit will showcase the work of Minnesota women artists, writers, poets, and dancers.

The focus of this event is to celebrate women creatives that live in the State of Minnesota.

June 3rd will be the exhibit opening reception which will focus on the visual artists involved in the exhibit. It begins at 6 pm Artist talk starts promptly at 7 pm. Closes at 9pm.

The Second reception will be held June 10th 6-9 pm. This closing reception will be focused on performance. This includes Dance, Spoken Word/Poetry and a fashion show. Performances will begin promptly at  6:30.

The artwork will be up the whole month of June for those who are unable to attend the receptions. The UCR Art gallery is open 9:30 am - 4:00 pm M-F, by request on Saturday.

Details: River City Rhapsody, in its 4th year, will bring seven (7) drum and bugle corps to Southeast Minnesota for a day of inspiring and exciting family friendly entertaining. Drum and Bugle Corps participating this year include:
Blue Stars - La Crosse WI,
Blue Knights - Denver CO,
Madison Scouts - Madison WI,
Pioneer - Milwaukee WI,
Genesis - Austin TX,
River City Rhythm - Anoka MN, and
Minnesota Brass - Saint Paul MN.

During the morning and early afternoon on Friday July 15 many of these corps separately rehearse in different area schools. People are welcome to come on out and take a look at what it takes to develop and perfect a world class marching arts performance. These are free open rehearsals for people to observe. (Rehearsal locations for each of the corps will be posted at www.rivercityrhapsody.com/rochester.php a few days before the event.)

Friday evening, at Mayo High School Stadium, the seven drum and bugle corps will perform their individual themed productions in full pageantry and grandeur. All seats are reserved seating. Ticket prices are $15, $22, & $29 when purchased in advance; and $18, $25, $32 on the day of the event.

Details: Auditions for the Tenth Anniversary 2016-2017 Season Announced

We are looking for motivated girls in grades 6-12 who love to sing! Our 2016-2017 Season promises to be spectacular with special opportunities as our organization is celebrating ten years. If you ever thought about being a part of Bella this is the year to make it happen!

Auditions will last approximately 15 minutes and singers will be expected to sing "My Country Tis of Thee," Amazing Grace”, "Silent Night," or be prepared with another song of your choice. The audition will also include sight-reading, vocal range, rhythm and pitch recognition. Please arrive 10 minutes early to complete forms before your audition. Auditions are held with Shelly (Bella Voce) and Stephanie(for Bella Fiore) and are low-key and encouraging - so don't be afraid!
